Latest Updates from Our Project:

Competition Winners!
almost 7 years ago – Thu, May 25, 2017 at 09:30:01 PM

Hey folks!

I've been mercifully quiet lately. Slowly recovering, but also slowly getting the production and play testing rolling!

On that note, if you're interested in becoming a play tester, please go HERE TO REGISTER.

I'm not going to bore you with too many job lists, but suffice it to say that miniatures are being cut for printing, and I've begun work on the additional rules, profiles and the fluff chapters! I'll update on these things when I have something more interesting and solid to show you, but for now

Competition Winners!

I'm going to judge the best scenario in a few days. It's been a tough one, as I need to balance the practicality of people actually being able to play it without spending tens of hours building a board especially for it, and the 'awesomeness' factor it should have!

Best Proxy Runner Up

Some great proxy miniatures out there- great enough that I had to declare a runner up too- on any other day this could have won:

Fancagne by Ram:

Love the conversion and re-sculpting work here- really captures the spirit of everyone's favourite berserker berengeii!

Best Proxy Winner

But the winner goes to Andrey Tatarinov for his beautifully painted, and spot on conceptually: Mirja:

Best Fan Art

I feel bad about this one, because the winning entry was awesome, and really obviously deserved to win.

However, I can't say it beat a tough field, because cool as it was, it was the only entry! I was really bowled over when this came though though- I didn't expect the standard to be so high, even if we'd had 10 entries.

This is the entry, 'Sniper' by Pride St Clair. Congratulations!

As well as the equipment and general "vibe" being spot on, it's interesting to see something in more of a manga style!

Thanks so much to all those who entered. Scenario winner announced soon, and I'll update you with more info as and when I have it. Take care!

Final 24 hours! Tokens Unlocked and Final Competition!
almost 7 years ago – Tue, May 16, 2017 at 09:53:33 AM

We are now in the final 24 hours, and what a ride it's been! Another stretch goal crushed! Next it's just a little one, but one very close to my heart. What is a game universe without a map after all!

Targets Acquired!

A simplified version of this map will appear in the rulebook, but backers will also receive a higher resolution version PDF with a bit more detail, and some special locations which are interesting, but perhaps not as important as they could be.

Everyone at the Master Builder pledge level will now receive the tokens we just unlocked absolutely free, and there's something else on the horizon too.

Can we get there?!

Once again, if you're at Master Builder level you'll get these beauties for free. So it's in your interests to keep the excitement going by forwarding this message to friends, telling them why they should back, posting on your favourite forums or club groups, and generally spreading the word far and wide. Lets get these guys unlocked before close of play too!

Competition Week: Final Competition

Your last chance to make a permanent creative mark on the rulebook, and Ulaya!

The winning idea will be the starting point for an actual species in Ulaya, mentioned in the rulebook, and you'll be credited as a contributor. How cool is that?

This one works a lot like the others. Comment below with your entry before the Kickstarter ends tomorrow at 5pm BST (GMT+1) and I will announce the winner next week.

There's still time to enter in some of the others- I've only had a few 2D submissions and a handful of Proxy Miniature submissions also. So far the Youtube Playthrough competition is wide open! No entries yet!

Final words

Arg! Too exciting! Over the last month I've seen a vibrant, creative, enthusiastic and above all else friendly community grow up around this game and world I created. It's hard to put in to words what that means to me. Suffice it to say I have a little tear in my eye while writing this, and a boundless amount of enthusiasm and expectation for what we are going to be able to achieve in the future.

Now, go and preach the word, like a wandering Ulaya Wayfarer! :D

Competition Week Day 6: Best Scenario Concept!
almost 7 years ago – Mon, May 15, 2017 at 08:08:17 PM

Hey folks! Well, I'm pleased to say we finally got the extra rules chapter stretch goal out of the way, and are now looking at Kaneda on a Mantis!

Which reminds me...

Livesculpting Tonight!

In fact, we'll be live at 7:30, so very shortly! Click the image to open the page:

And I guess you'd like to see the stretch goal, right? Well, we're already two thirds of the way there, so not much more to do!

 Competition Week Day 6:

Please remember, this is a scenario idea! I'm not expecting you to write the scenario itself. I'll do that after the campaign (and playtest it of course).

The cool part? It's going to actually appear in the rulebook. Awesome huh?

As previously, post below to enter. You have till the campaign ends- Tuesday 5pm, GMT+1.

Thanks folks! Lets see if we can't start smashing those stretch goals. Quite a few of you have gone for the Master Builder pledge level- Kaneda will be free to you guys when unlocked!

Memory Regained. The Final Chapter!

The glowing weapon whined alarmingly as Lliana picked it up, and she immediately dropped it. The resultant blast of purple energy sent her flying backwards to crash against a bulkhead wall. Slowly she dusted herself off, eyes ablaze with excitement which burned through any pain. Never had she seen such a relic in full working order. Carefully she picked it up, gritting her sharp teeth as her touch caused it to whir in to life once more. Slowly she hefted it, felt the balance. It was surprisingly light- made of a glass like but warm material she did not understand. What it did exactly… well, she would have to find that out! She was ready to face her enemy and triumph. She hoped she could put her trust in the weapon, but either way, she was committed.

Cautiously she approached the door and looked through the glass window first left, then right. Nothing. She sniffed the air, listening for any sign of movement, but all she heard was the nocturnal buzzing of the distant forest.

Lliana dropped to one knee, aiming upwards, left and then right, as she squeezed back out in to the warm night air. Her eyes scanned the inky darkness, sifting through the gloom like a sieve through muddy water. Then she heard it. The almost imperceptible padding of feet behind her and to the left, coming round the wreckage…

…and to her right also! Now there were two!

Internally she cursed as she sprang forward, twisting in mid jump and pulling the trigger. The crakckling storm of violet light lit up the scene as if a stripe of lightning had struck several metres in front of her.

The first Raptor was caught in the blast, roaring with pain as it scrambled backwards, skin peeling and smoking. The purple flash had illuminated the second raptor, attempting a pincer like ambush. However, behind the first was a third, which had leaped deftly out of the way of the blast, and was growling at her threateningly.

She fired again, but the range of the weapon was short. The first raptor was up again now, limping painfully, but not out of the fight just yet!

Without taking her eyes off her enemy she bowed low, stalking slowly backward, through the sodden mud as the raptors matched her step for step, chirping ominously at each other in some strange approximation of a conversation. Were they… talking to each other?

Then, as one, they darted forward, but spreading out as they did so. Lliana was back against the tree line now. She dropped low and behind a tree, feeling the movement of the air against her skin and listening to the splashing steps to form a hunters picture in her mind.

She bared her teeth and swung out from the cover of the tree once more and fired at the central raptor. This time the weapon simply immolated the dinosaur, but the second was coming at her now from the right… where was the third? She barely had time to think of it before the forest exploded with purple light. She was on her back in the mud, a hissing carcass off to one side. Liana was barely aware of a shadow slipping in to darkness to deep even for her sharp eyes, and so once again she relied on her senses.

She tasted blood- before it had died the second raptor had torn a savage rent in her face, and the taste of it would send the third wild. Lliana had hoped that once its two friends were down it would retreat, but if it had gone in to a blood lust…

A ripple of movement from the undergrowth sent waves of shock through her system. On reflex she fired in that direction, turning the sweating fern to a white dust. It was then that she knew… it was behind her.

Lliana spun on her heel with as much strength and dexterity as she could muster. She hissed in dismay as she pulled the trigger and… nothing! She avoided the slashing jaws by breadth of a Nura wing, but her face lit up with pain as a savage kick and razor claws raked across her face. She fell several metres from her original position, body taught with agony, and yet she did not stop moving, leaning in to the momentum and springing up and backwards, only to find those jagged jaws wide and closing on her with equally deft speed.

Praying to the ancestors she squeezed the trigger once… twice, and suddenly the world once again erupted with violet energy, ripping first through the raptor, and then the forest behind it, leaving nothing but a gently glowing tunnel of destruction in its wake, as Lliana fell badly against a rubber tree.

It was over…

Kaneda + Mantis unlocked: free to all Master Builders!
almost 7 years ago – Mon, May 15, 2017 at 03:39:22 PM

Did you already upgrade your pledge level to Master Builder? Well, if you did, then it just got even better! Kaneda on Mantis will come on a 50mm base and be a big chunk of metal! I expect him to retail for about £26.

Unlocckkkkksssss!

Yay! Also remember you can check out the live sculpts on our youtube channel

So then, my jungle roaming friends, what's next? Well, a final token type seems like just the thing to have, don't you agree? As well as stealth markers for models like Slethssk and Lissz this pack also contains flame, swim and prone tokens as well as climb markers.

And once again, if you've gone in for the new Master Builder pledge, you'll get these for free when we unlock them. Not bad eh?

Coolest Character Competition Winner

There weren't quite as many entries for this category as the location one, but the field was still very strong. In the end I decided on Pride St. Clare's "Captain Bishop", the underwater salvage operator of the "Kharon's Passage". Well done!

Don't forget to get those other competition entries in- the next competition will be announced late this afternoon!
